Education 3.0 September 16, 2009
Posted by happygeek in : Technology , 3 commentsLast week, I had my second my speaking engagement at the Philippine Youth Congress in Information Technology or Y4iT Congress 2009. My topic last year was Library 2.0 and Beyond: Library + Web Services + YOU, along with other topics such as eLearning 2.0 and ePortfolio. This year, I presented a new concept called “Education 3.0″, a new paradigm on the trend of ICT in the field of education. Other education-related talks that were presented in Y4iT 2009 were “IT in the Early Grades” by Sabrina Par and “Kinespell: Kinesthetic Learning Activity and Assessment” by Ada Cariaga.
Here’s a sample of my presentation:
Surprisingly, delivering the talk was somewhat easy for me because I only have to illustrate and compare the transition of education’s components from the 1.0 to its 3.0 counterparts. Although it’s just my first year in my graduate studies in the College of Education and my first time to take up Educational Technology, I’ve been doing a lot of research already on such technologies and its usage in the academe. However, the hard part in it was the research process on getting the established definition for Education 3.0 because based on what I had found so far, the term can only be defined by describing the sum of its parts.
Also, here are the questions raised by my audience:
What will happen to the schools in Education 3.0? What are their roles then? Is there a standard criteria existing to evaluate if a school is using Education 3.0 already?
…well, what do you think?
Using Del.icio.us in Teaching August 11, 2009

A Teacher’s First Year of Teaching August 5, 2009
Posted by happygeek in : Personal , add a commentIt seems that the month that has passed (July) was the most difficult one to handle so far. I was not able to blog any about my experiences for it was the transitional part where I really had to adjust and improve more on my planning. There was too much information overload that I got not only from teaching but also from the realizations I got from my study loads. I shall try to elaborate everything as I continue to type more on this post.
